Please help me welcome Miski Harris to the LGBTQIA Author Spotlight. She comes to us from Prince Georges County, Maryland
Describe your books/your writing for the readers.
I write characters that make you wonder if I’m writing about someone you know or knew. I use dramatic life, romantic love, intense faith and all the heat without explicit on page sex. (Not quite closed door but almost). I call my genre gay romantic fiction. My books can feature shifters, pnr characters, veterans and BIPOC.
What is something that makes you unique (personally or within your writing)?
I often cross the lines of what can happen in my books. I call them romantic because there is romance and there is at least a hfn. Tell me I can’t do something in a story and I will find a way of making it happen if that’s what my characters demand. I strive to be different.
Tell us about your writing process. Where do your ideas come from? Do you plan/plot or totally wing it?
I plan and wing it. I talk to my characters. I print out my covers for inspiration. I don’t write fast and won’t release a book til I’m satisfied.
What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?
I wrote a review for a book. The author contacted me. His friend had read the review and wanted to know if I was an author.
