Please help me welcome Alex J. Adams to the LGBTQIA Author Spotlight. She comes to us from the UK.
Describe your books/your writing for the readers.
Dark, angsty, realistic and gritty. I tell the stories that show the seedier side of life, but always with a HEA. I do write some light and fluffy but it’s mainly on the dark side.
What is something that makes you unique (personally or within your writing)?
I’m not afraid to tackle difficult subjects. Men suffering with mental health in some way is a big part of my writing.
Tell us about your writing process. Where do your ideas come from? Do you plan/plot or totally wing it?
A mixture of both. I used to wing it and still do at the start of a book. I tend to sit down and plot as the end nears so I can at least have a goal to aim for.
What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?
Difficult one to answer. I suppose at school. I loved reading and learning.
What is your favorite childhood book?
Anything by Enid Blyton. Yes, I’m that old!
What is one of the best feelings in the world?
Typing The End and breathing a sigh of relief
If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?
I think a giraffe could be quite haughty! High and mighty, lol
What’s a sound you absolutely love?
A newborn baby’s cry
Favorite snack while writing?
Chocolate
Favorite drink when writing?
Tea or coffee, usually
Favorite scent?
Fresh bread
If someone is new to your writing, which book would you suggest they start with?
Saving Ziggy
